We've been here many times and it's always perfect from the garden like setting to pool. It's just perfect every time.

It was our 7th trip to Maui but first time staying in Kihei. We chose Maui Sunset because our son and his girlfriend were going to be with us and thought a condo would be better than a hotel. We enjoyed the location and the pool was nice, but the unit we stayed in was far below our expectations. The decor was very dated and things like the kitchen faucet were old and in need of repair or better yet replacement. The pullout couch mattress was extremely thin and uncomfortable. The pots and pans in the kitchen were also very old and needed to be replaced. We did see several other units that looked to have been updated and were probably much more comfortable.

We do offer a variety of price points, including the economy or basic condo you reserved to the newly renovated premium condos. Great location with view of ocean, walk to shops & restaurants. Great communication from start to finish. Kihei is a wonderful spot that's relaxed and some of the best beaches on Maui. Unit is dated but functional. Had a few repairs needed during the week but speedy responses.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Maui Sunset! Check in and out was a breeze and the rental apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the palm trees and ocean. We didn’t use many of the available stuff in the home but it would be perfect for families to stay and have enough room to spread out, cook some meals, etc. Even had some ocean gear available so no rentals were needed elsewhere! If planning to stick around Kihei/Wailea for the beaches, food, activities there, it’s a great location and very quick drives!

We discovered the Maui Sunset about 12 years ago and this is probably our seventh time coming here. The pool area and the grounds are impeccable and the balcony is what makes this place so special. The rooms are comfortable, not huge but my wife loves the fact that there are two bathrooms, even if the one ( mine) is a bit small ( but still has it’s own shower). The higher up you go, the better the view and the closer you can get to the ocean the better. Since our son lives on the island we come often and have found that the Maui Sunset is perfect for us and this is the only place we would consider staying. Our unit A-413 was a bit dated but clean and well maintained. Have always stayed on the 4th or 5 th floors and remember, the higher the number, the closer you get to the ocean. The beach area is beautiful for watching those million dollar sunsets but remember, it is not a swimming beach, too rocky. You’ll need to go down the road to a nearby beach if you want to go in the water. The Sunset is also located in a much less crowded area of Kihei than further south and there is plenty of shopping nearby. We love it here and will continue to visit whenever we come back to Maui.

We loved every part of our stay at Maui Sunset! The location was perfect! Right on the beach, stores and restaurants within walking distance, and bus stops very close to the property made most of the island accessible. I will absolutely stay at Maui Sunset the next time I come back to Maui!

The condo worked well for my family of 4. It was not the newest of anything but it served it's purpose well for us. The 2 bathrooms were great and my kids slept on the couch bed. We were able to do laundry a couple of times which meant less clothes to pack. We loved the pool and the easy access to the beach. The condo grounds were beautifully maintained. We had some ants the first couple of days but they went away with a treatment from maintenance. The condo was clean but had wear and tear upon close inspection. If I wanted new and updated I would have paid more for one of those units. It was my second stay at the Maui Sunset and I would stay again.

Very dissatisfied with this year’s stay. Though the grounds are maintained extremely well Unit 413 was in BAD condition. The carpeting was stained, the appliances very old and scratched and the countertops (made of cheap Formica) were cracked.
The extra supplies were old and broken. The ironing board was very old, the beach chairs were broken and the beach towels were thin, bleached out and had holes. When we asked for working beach chairs were told none were available.
We discovered the beach was not suitable for swimming because it was Tiger shark infested. We should have been warned NOT to swim.
The below survey asks questions about the property. I will answer about the Condo and ‘Beachfront’.

Always enjoy staying at Maui Sunset. Location is great and the grounds are very lovely and well maintained. The unit I stayed in this year could use a little deferred maintenance but all in all, a great stay.

The apartment has more things than a hotel room (kitchen with utensils, washer/dryer, fans for air circulation,beach chairs , snorkeling gears, kite....a nice size porch to overlook the ocean)

This is the 11th time I have stayed at the Maui Sunset and it has always been a great place to stay. I come every year in October or November. The price is right and the location is perfect for what I do.

We visited for 2 weeks and once settled in we were pleased. Main issue we had was our plane was late and we arrived late on a Saturday evening. The office was closed until Monday. While we had instructions to enter our unit we were not able to contact anyone to get key fobs to use the pool area until Monday. This was very disappointing. When you only have a short visit you hate to loose a day at the pool!! The unit was a expected, dated but clean and adequate. The TV had very limited channels. The shower in the master bathroom was broken, but after 4 phone calls they came and fixed it. The location in the building was very good. The balcony was sunny all day long and was too hot to enjoy in the afternoon. The unit was as described and expected. The pool and grounds were excellently maintained. The beach was nice for walking and playing in the sand (a turtle came to visit one day), but the water was very rocky and can not recommend for swimming. Groceries and restaurants nearby. We enjoyed using the BBQs. I recommend, and hope to visit again.

Very nice stay! We went to Maui and stayed at this property for a week in August. We loved the location. It's in the middle of the island, and convenient to go either east or west for day trips!

Maui Sunset was a good place to stay. There is nothing spectacular about it, but not horribly wrong with it either. Felt safe, room and property were clean. The beach at the edge of the grass is not a swimming beach. You want to head down to the 10+ beaches along keihi road.

We enjoyed our 2 week stay here! The condo furnishings were pretty basic but functional. We had an issue with the microwave but it was acted on quickly but took a few days to fix. The health club was the biggest disappointment. The equipment is excellent but it is in what is essentially a dungeon. The grounds are beautiful and the sunsets incredible (the conch shells played each night as the sun sank into the ocean were just amazing). The pool and the hot tub are good although the hours for those and the fitness room were disappointing. They didn't open until 8 AM. Overall a great place! We are planning to go back next year.

We were disappointed that there was no housekeeping service in the 13 days we were there. I have been coming to Maui Sunset for 40 years and have always received good service.

First thing to know is that Maui Sunset Condos are individually owned and updated as the owners see necessary. Theerefore, some units have been updated, while others have not. We stayed in one of the older units that had not been updated. We would have given a 5 star review for everything as our stay was wonderful in almost every aspect. The carpet in ours needed to be replaced. Kitchen a bit dated as well. That being said, everything else was fabulous: location, views, amenities, pool, tropical feeling, etc. All exterior aspects were clean and spotless. Highly recommend and will most likely return.

This is the first time I have been disappointed with are stay at Maui Sunset The condo needs a lot of work Small TV, Bar needs repair, every thing needed to be updated outside property is still beautiful shuffle cours need repair pool area still very good

The pool area and grounds were great but the room was not well kept and dirty. It was clear they hadn't put a dime into maintaining the place as the furniture was old, the curtains were stained and had mildew. Sheets and blankets were old and not clean. shower curtain, which costs $5 to replace was filthy and had mold/mildew. Odd smell was indicative of the lack of cleanliness.

An easy walk on beach or side streets to local stores. Had 4 adults in a 1 bedroom (2 in bedroom, 2 on fold-out couch in living room): a perfect family vacation. Never felt cramped. Unit well maintained; kitchen well equipped & community BBQ's easy to use. Beautiful grounds & pool area; great for kids. We are repeat customers (x10) since 1986: remains tip top shape.

The condo was large, extremely clean, and well equipped. The furnishings were a little out dated, but the bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds were very nice and well maintained. We had a good view of the ocean, so we could see whales.

Maui Sunset is a large complex with a great green space between the 2 buildings. Great place to run around with kids! Saw people playing croquet and bocci ball there too. Pool - great. Water is quite warm, lots of chairs. Our unit was a 1 bedroom - quite spacious. Bathrooms really dated, need updating. Kitchen well stocked. Living area nice. View from the lanai was amazing - great place to watch the sunsets! Would stay there again. If you want a quiet place to stay though Maui Sunset is not for you.

The unit was great for us, it was very convenient for us to have the kitchen and laundry, which we would used both quite a bit. It was nice that they supplied items for the beach as well.Everything was clean. The view was great and loved the beach access. Good location to anything we wanted to do. Would recommend to others as well as returning.

Completely unobtrusive. We checked in and never saw anyone from the office or the office until check out. We felt like the condo was our home for 12 days.

Maui Sunset was chosen because it is beachfront and the price was affordable compared to other locations. Paid for Ocean Front view for a one bedroom. Was expecting a better ocean front view from the booking pictures; however, was informed the closer ones are two bedrooms. Checked in about 9:30pm-10:00pm late flight, office was closed and a note was posted to call the outside phone. The operator gave instructions to get the key and seemed to be on limited time to talk, so conversation ended. We didn't know where to go and had to call again. Security was sent out to help us...we found our room. Over all, the room was wonderful and to our amazement equipped with all the things we needed (kitchen utensils, pots/pans, washer/dryer, beach chairs/towels, etc.) This place is perfect for a family...BBQ outside...and it wasn't noisy the times we were there. Someone even had a wedding reception close to the beach, which was beautiful to watch.

The Condo was dirty upon arrival. Hair still in the shower and on the bathroom floor. Dirty kitchen floors. It would have been more pleasant had it been clean upon arrival. Otherwise a nice stay.

This rental has great proximity to the ocean, no road going in front of it as many have. adjacent to a public park with a couple tennis courts make this a great choice. Furniture and unit are dated but clean. Only new thing was tile on walls in bathrooms. Not a great view but a good view.

I've stayed at Maui Sunset since I was a boy as my Mom & Dad have owned various time share units there for 30+ years. I sincerely enjoy staying in MS and always feel comfortable there. However, I paid for a Superior Ocean View unit and was placed in a unit with a Standard Ocean View....which is my singular complaint.

Aloha Ryan, Great to have you with us again. Looks like you paid for a standard condo with a superior ocean view. Higher floor and closer to ocean for a 1 bedroom. Your family owns "oceanfront" which only exist in the 2 bedrooms. An upgrade from the standard interior to a premium would have been a little higher. Let me know next time if you'd like to go with a 2 bedroom or a premium condo. Steve

We rented for 1 week at Maui Sunset for our Honeymoon. This was our first time in Hawaii, and we thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. We weren't in our room too much since we were out exploring, but when we were in our room or on the grounds, Maui Sunset was very nice!
