Maui Sunset is clean, quiet, has well manicured lawns and easy access to all of South Maui. We have stayed there several times now and are never disappointed.

Loved location and pool. Rules posted at pool, what not to do, but nobody to enforce them. Kids throwing balls in pool. One person came down every morning and set aside lounge chairs for 8-10. They also saved 3 tables under the shade sails. Very intimidating to the rest of us. The furniture in unit needs to be updated. Washer and dryer are very old and loud. Microwave old, needs new appliances throughout. Bamboo furniture needs to go. Lights in front room not very good. We were in another unit that was updated and beautiful. This unit should of been updated at least 10 years ago.

Great 2 bedroom unit on 5th floor with ocean view. Clean, well equipped. Owner immediately replaced malfunctioning blender. Super hosts.
Pool a bit chilly and hot tub over crowded at night.
Grounds immaculate. Music on Tuesday nights was lovely.
Trouble with grills when it is very windy, but clean.

Aloha, Our occupancy at the resort was super busy, a great sign for tourism on the island. They did have a propane supply issue right after new years for the BBQ's and heating the pool, good news is our new backup electric pool heater is being installed soon. Hope you come back again soon.

Beautiful, well appointed condo with a beautiful Waterview. The landscaping is pristine, the pool and barbecue areas Maintained to perfection. Ample parking and great elevators! Within minutes of excellent shopping! Truly, a marvelous place for a vacation!

Our family of 13 stayed at Maui Sunset for about a week and we all loved it. The condos were roomy and comfortable though some were in need of upgrading. The grounds were immaculate and we loved barbecuing and eating outside on some nights.
It was great to have a lovely swimming pool for our use and seeing turtles on the beach most days was a real treat.
We needed cars to go to the shops and restaurants and to the good swimming beaches but everything was nearby and quite accessible.
We are all looking forward to returning next year!

Maui Sunset is a GREAT location on Maui if you want to stay away from the tall, fancy & crowded hotels! Most rooms have an amazing view of the ocean with beautiful sunsets every evening. The property is beautiful with one of the largest pools on the island...and it not crowded!!! It has great BBQs, tennis courts, shuffleboard and lots of other amenities.

Condo is roomy, but AC does not work well. Room gets very hot. Bedrooms stay cool. A bit dated and minimal ammenities in condo if you are going to stay many days. No laundry soap, nothing for cooking except minimal dishes.
Good view. Condos have a nice adult pool that is deep.
Beach is shallow so not a swimming beach per say but nice view.
Next to a public park which can be noisy on weekends But not too bad.
In the 200$ range is fair. But 300$ plus is a bit pricey. Old building.
Management was communicative about AC issues as it was broken at first, but still could use updating/replacing.

Also no manual on using house. Could not get Wifi whole time and took two days to figure out TV as you had to press two buttons on remote at once to get off of the open screen.

Ants attacked kitchen after food was out for about 1 hour. Did not expect that on 5th floor.

If lower in price would stay again. Definitely for budget travelers.

We enjoyed our time at Maui Sunset. Our unit was a bit outdated and didn't have a lot of kitchen utensils we'd normally like but we weren't in the place very often as we were out enjoying the sun!

We love the location of Maui Sunset. This time however there were a few issues. 1 the hot tub didn't work for a few days. 2. There was 1 elevator working and we were on the 5th floor with a baby, so this was a hassle. 3. Finally the dishwasher was broke. This should have been communicated with prior as they did know. When you pay 9k for 2 weeks all the above start to matter. A refund for the issues would have been nice to see for a bit.

Maui Sunset resort is great. Pool hot tub and location by pickle ball courts with beautiful park and beach. Condo was a little dated. Air condition in living room very noisy. If you plan on cooking need to bring or purchase everything down to salt and pepper. Great view of pool and ocean. Really enjoyed Wednesday concerts

Thought the grounds, pool, location and overall building were great. Only negative was our specific unit. The blender was broken and the dishwasher was not connected to the counter top (it would tip over as we loaded it). Dishwasher soap dispenser also did not work. The finishes in the unit are very dated. Could use a cosmetic renovation!

We stayed at the property in August 2019 and had a large family group and two of the condo units. We were all very impressed and happy with the condo from the first time we opened the door. The furniture and all the needed supplies in the bath and kitchen were great and the beach time items in the closet were a great extra. The location is perfect for exploring the island since it is somewhat centrally located. The beach was very nice and the sunsets were awesome to enjoy. We will definitely stay at Maui Sunset again if we return to the island.

We have stayed at Maui Sunset (via American Resort Marketing) many times starting in 2001. The AMR properties have been clean and well-maintained, as opposed to some others we have seen or heard in the Maui Sunset complex. Kihei is a great spot for getting around to various activities on the Island. The activity desk had two knowledgeable people, Connie and Autumn, who book trips and can help with restaurants. While the Maui Sunset isn't the upscale nature of the Wailea hotels, neither are the rental prices. As opposed to hotels, you have nicely decorated rooms, a full kitchen plus there are gas grills centrally located where many people congregate and converse during the course of their stays. Our 2 BR Ocean View room had a magnificent view of the ocean. The pool is especially nice for families as you can better keep track of kids. The lawn is beautifully manicured like putting greens. While the beach is not a swim beach, all the beaches in Hawaii are open, so it is an easy drive of 10-15 minutes to get to the great Maui beaches by the hotels without paying the hotel prices. The MS beach is wonderful in the afternoon for watching kite surfers, wind surfers and there always is a crowd sitting on the lawn watching the sunset.

Maui Sunset is a very nice complex! Great pool/hot tub, BBQ grills and even an herb garden on the grounds for fresh basil, cilantro etc. We cooked almost every night and kitchen was well equipped! There were 14 of us in 3 different condos....ages 5 up...3 generations..lots of activities and a beach with turtles right there!Longs Drugstore and Times grocery store within easy walking distance.

We had our family vacation including myself my husband 2 of my sons my daughter in law granddaughter & my son’s fiancé. She is now my new daughter in law. We have had a wonderful experience. What a relaxing place. Yet minutes away there are places to eat shop or snorkel.

Great relaxing condo, clean, great location, parking was a bit tight, loved having BBQs in the court yard, double check your towels and supplies at the start of week, also they accept perishable and non food items at the end of the week to donate. quiet time was a bit early, a place to have drinks in the later eve would have been nice (beach area away from balcony of shhhhhushers.

Absolutely terrific. Property is exactly as advertised. Staff gracious and willing to go the extra mile. Interior of unit was spotless and the kitchen was fully equipped: From Wine opener to ice cream scooped. Dishes and glasses for up to 8 people.

All in all, we had an enjoyable experience at the Maui Sunset. The rooms were fantastic! Clean accommodations, with friendly maintenance staff and meticulous cleaning of facilities. Gorgeous setting, with a fairly good beach... rocky bottom, so bring your water shoes. Great location in Kihei, only minutes away from Wailea, and Lahaina. Only a couple disappointments that didn't yield a 5 out of 5 for our overall experience. With a Family including kids under 10, the pool was very restrictive for noise, pool toys, and in general 'fun'. Feels like Maui Sunset has extended the resort to Family use over time, but is majority 'Senior owned' community. A bit frustrating to be sold a Family environment, but main amenity for the kids - the pool, is so limiting.... where pool toys, and games like Marco Polo are a no-no. We were spoken to by the 'activity coordinator' at the pool whom we labeled the fun police / pool nazi by the end of our trip, because our 5yr old was using his 'outside voice' playing with his 2yr old sister. Same with other families that our kids were playing with. Had a couple of Senior owners be passive aggressive to us in regards to the kids at poolside also. I would highly recommend this be communicated to families before they spend the money, because this could be a deal breaker for some families. Other issue were the room upgrades that were being completed next to our rooms, no advance notice. For three days there was loud construction activity happening from 8am - 5pm. So kids couldn't nap in the afternoon. Would have been nice to know in advance to manage our daily schedule differently. Again, outside of these two items that were more of a nuisance, Maui Sunset is a nice high quality resort, at a great location, at a very competitive and manageable cost! Most likely would consider it again when we come back!

Aloha Vince and family, Thank you so much for choosing the Maui Sunset for your family trip. It is a family resort and the pool is very popular for all, including folks without kiddos. There are some pool rules, mostly for safety. Running, throwing toys, jumping etc. Marco Polo is not allowed in most resort pools for the excessive noise. Kids should be able to have fun and enjoy the pool. The activity desk is there for safety and to remind about the rules so that all can enjoy the deck for relaxing and swimming. I did see a private condo next door to your 2 bedroom was undergoing renovation, they did not notify anyone until it started, which would have been nice. Look forward to having your family back soon.
